Many individuals seek therapy services for a variety of reasons. Some individuals see therapy for a mental health or addiction condition. While others seek therapy for life stressors such as couples problems, work stress, and bullying. In order to use your insurance for therapy, you must have a mental health or addiction condition. The insurance company is not paying your therapist to talk to you. They are paying your therapist to treat you for a mental health or addition condition. In order for this practice to get paid by the insurance, we must submit a claim with a diagnostic code. The purpose of the diagnostic code is to demonstrate medical necessity for therapy.
